Sometimes you do things on auto pilot. You may find yourself suddenly at place B, but you can't remember how you got there. This isn't so bad if your destination was place B; it's not so pleasant if you were supposed to go to F!
Running on auto pilot
This happens to me regularly during my runs. Suddenly I'll find I've run three miles without having been aware of doing it. I'm surprised to suddenly find myself at that old mill, or at the house with that annoying little dog where that makes me run faster, or that nice little bench in the park.
I feel like I've lost something along the way..... Hmmm, what could it be?
You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, so you won't hear my complain about having run so easily I can't even remember. But sometimes I get the feeling I've lost myself along the way! Like Myself! That I'm back there somewhere, perhaps lying hurt in a ditch or something. I feel an irresistible urge to go back for myself. Back to the place where I remember myself last.
For a minute I hesitate, but then I shrug nonchalantly. You can't go back for everyone!
I'll just have to get myself home.
