Now that I literally rún the School Run, five times a week, I try to give my body a chance to recuperate during the weekend. I used to do my long run on Sunday, but now I go to church or (try to) enjoy my obligatory Sunday rest.
I don't always find this change in routine easy! There's this little voice inside of me whispering: 'Shouldn't you do your long run today?'
But I tell that annoying voice what I've read in lots of running books: 'You should give your muscles a chance to catch up.'
But yesterday, even though it was a rest day, I just hád to go out for a run. Because it was warm enough to run in my running skirt, and I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that. The feeling of the wind brushing my bare legs, was lovely.
I can't wait till I can put my running tights and capris away, and wear my running skirts all the time again.
