The tortoise and the hare

I was running along this dirt path, minding my own business when I heard something coming up behind me. I looked over my shoulder in fear of seeing a dog. You know, the kind whose owner says: 'Don't worry he doesn't bite!' but the dog obviously missed the memo.

At first glance my fears appeared justified but when the creature came closer it turned about to be a big cat. And then when it got even closer I thought: 'Aaah... it's a little deer!'

But then it came even closer and it turned out to be this monstrously big hare. The hare and me, we looked each other in the eye, in a silent dare who was more scared. I won! The hare turned around first and ran off.

Once again the tortoise beat the hare.

I had a stare down with a deer the other day. I ran across it. It was probably 15 feet away. It just starred at me and went back to eating. Guess I am not very scary looking after all.

Early mornings are so neat. It's like Beatrix Potter coming to life. I bet there's some scary movie about killer rabbits, but I'd rather not go there. It sounds like you had a beaultiful run!

My neighborhood is a circle - a half mile loop. So I usually try to do six laps each morning at sunrise (before the kids get up and the husband leaves for work). Being that my neighborhood is called Deerfield, I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise that I see lots of deer every morning. The deer and I play the staring game a lot. My biggest fear is that one morning, I'll come across a bear! Good thing my neighborhood isn't called Bear Field :-)

I recently received a blog award and I have been asked to pass it on. So I would like to pass it on to you! If you get a chance, please stop by and claim it.

Have a great day!
