I'm dead broke. I have 26 cents in my bank account and about 30 cents in my savings account. Things are not looking good, yet I feel quite optimistic. 'Cause I just came back from a good run.
And one of the greatest things about the sport of running is that it doesn't cost anything! Whatever happens, no matter how bad my finances are, I can always go for my run. The opportunity is just out there, waiting for me. As I run out the door, Mother Nature gives me a welcoming smile and shows me all her good stuff. She holds me in her tender embrace and shows me what's really important.
And as I run along I just shrug at the thought of my tight finances and think: 'Who cares as long as the important stuff is free!'

I couldn't agree more. One of the reasons I love running is the simple nature of it. Put on the shoes and head out. No expensive equipment, no need to pay a gym fee. Running always gives me the persepctive that everything will be okay. And it will.
As they say, the best things in life are free. I am broke too but I don't let the thought stress me out. I'm not running but I'm into stitching. It's a good stress buster too. :)

sooo true!!!! great outlook! The hubby and I always say that. We say that about surfing too! once you buy the board and wetsuit and you live near the beach it costs nothing to go down and catch a few waves... the best!

What a wonderful and HEALTHY way to look at life. I just started running again and it makes me feel so good. It's cold here, so I use the treadmill, but still, I love it.
I think you entered my thoughts!! I too am dead broke-just paid the mort. by the skin of my teeth and have 6 dollars left. I will take a long run this afternoon and all will be fine. I would be affected negatively if i couldn't run! The truth is all we have is our health! And i am grateful for mine (and that of my childrens')
