Amongst runners it's a well known fact: it's important to run in your aerobic zone. In your aerobic zone you're doing precisely enough. Not too much, but not too little either.
If you push yourself too hard, in other words, when you're working out in your anaerobic zone, your body starts to protest with painful muscles and fatigue. On the other hand, if you don't push yourself hard enough you won't improve.
That's why the best trainingprogrammes combine periods of effort with periods of rest. It's a constant search for balance.
How this applies to motherhood
The same principle applies to motherhood!
As a mom, if you push yourself too hard you'll end up parenting in your anaerobic zone. When you're in your anaerobic zone as a mom, you'll notice you get angry fast, irritable en stressed. Just like in running, it's important to balance effort and rest.
Give yourself a chance to recharge, and you'll be a better mom for it! And don't be too hard on yourself.
Allow yourself to be in your aerobic zone!

This is such a great analogy! I think as mothers we tend to try to do everything, and we try to do it perfectly to the point that at the end of the night we're just too exhausted to even shower. Finding that right balance I think is the hardest part of motherhood.
Thanks for joining the #FridayFunday party!
I push harder at parenting than I do at the gym - and then I meltdown. I need to learn to pace myself.
Oh my gosh, you are spot on!!! Thank you for the reminder to pace myself and take care of me :-)
So true! Thank you for linking up at the Home Matters Linky Party this week!
I am all about recharging. One way to do this that I have found awesome if you have more than one child, is to take one child at a time for a few hours and devote your moment to them. Or, take the day and recharge. It makes you a better mum, wife and person :)
I'm glad you get the analogy Lissette!
Yes, parenting is just like running in that way too. You have to make sure you can make it for the long haul.
I take one of my kids into town every Saturday. It's a great way to spend some one on one time with them. But sometimes you need some one on one with yourself.
I really need to find some time to recharge. I go from week to week just going... and then I burn out. I'm trying to make it through and keep going!
Stopping by Small Victories Sunday!
